Hypnotherapy, NLP and Mindfulness

How does Hypnotherapy / NLP and Mindfulness work, and how will they help you?

Hypnotherapy, NLP and Mindfulness techniques are powerful practices which will provide you with the opportunity that will enable you to change habits that may be holding you back. They will also allow you to access your own wisdom about what is right for you and create a confident, positive and calm mindset so that you can achieve your goals, and simply show up each day feeling happy and stress-free; for example,

  • achieve weight loss and improve your diet and nutrition
  • change eating habits where necessary, for example with diabetes or increased levels of cholesterol
  • quit smoking, break unhelpful and unwanted habits, such as nail biting or binge drinking
  • achieve pregnancy where fertility issues are affected by stress and other nervous system issues
  • address excess alcohol or other substance use or dependance, and make other changes necessary for your health such as for high blood pressure or to avoid high blood pressure
  • Improve mood or lift depression, combat Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • overcome anxiety, panic attacks
  • increase confidence, including for performance events, public speaking or before exams
  • overcome phobias, to relax and learn to sleep well and wake refreshed.
  • achieve your goals and fulfil your dreams and purpose in life
  • reduce stress, worry and negative thought patterns
  • learn positive pain management, and skills to live with fibromyalgia, ME or chronic fatigue syndrome.
  • help to cope with grief and loss
  • create inner resources to enable you to resolve difficulties, for example with motivation and relaxation
  • re programme negative thoughts or beliefs that limit you in your daily life,
  • Make the changes and choices you want to make.
  • improve your social skills and confidence where appropriate

Hypnotherapy and NLP both work by identifying strategies, which will enable you to overcome negative thoughts and adopt healthy, rewarding and positive life-style choices.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”

We all know how hard it can be to resist that cake; that drink, that cigarette, even that argument. Equally, we have all experienced lack of confidence or self-doubt at some time. More often than not, we know exactly what we need to do about a particular situation. The answer is simple and known. Simple? Yes! Easy? No! This is because the internal ‘good guy and bad guy’ are competing for attention. Good guy says, ‘you can do this thing.’ Bad guy says, ‘good plan but, hey, I’m not ready/don’t want to/ tomorrow:tomorrow.’ This negative cycle can spin round endlessly locking out achievement, success and positive thinking.

What you think matters. How you think affects everything you do. Hypnotherapy and NLP are used to enable you to develop positive thinking, increase your confidence, enhance your ability to achieve your goals to enable you to fulfil your dreams and needs.

Hypnotherapy and NLP work by re-programming your thought process so that you believe in yourself. Once you have learned to identify and overcome those negative messages in your head that prevent you from doing all the things you want to do, there is literally nothing to stop you from reaching your full potential.

As Henry Ford said, “whether you believe that you can or that you can’t, you are absolutely right.”

Mindfulness practice creates the opportunity for you to learn new and positive ways to respond to the stresses and upsets of modern life. We can’t always avoid stress but we can always decide how we are going to respond. Mindfulness shows you how to not let it get to you and gives you the chance to stay calm and balanced no matter what comes your way. It provides the key to relaxation. Mindfulness enables you to notice the good rather than focus on the bad.

During your consultation we will identify what is preventing you from moving towards your desired goals, to see where and how, negative thoughts and beliefs, or lack of confidence are holding you back. This is true whether your goals be work based, heart based, home based or relationship based. Once you banish negative self-limiting beliefs or thoughts you can achieve the changes you need to make.

Hypnotherapy, NLP and Mindfulness gives you the choice to think positively and feel in control of what is going on around you. These therapies enable you to

Hypnotherapy and mindfulness open up a quiet receptive state of mind in which it is possible to know that everything is possible and unlearn negative habits or thoughts. Even when in an hypnotic receptive state, you remain aware of what is happening around you and what is being said. It is important to know that you retain control. It is not possible to ‘make’ you do anything you would not normally do through hypnosis. You will only accept suggestions that you know are helpful to you.

Hypnotherapy is regularly used to help overcome addictive habits such as smoking, or alcohol use, and works to unlock all negative habits or thought patterns. Both Hypnotherapy and NLP can provide relief from stress, anxiety, see-saw dieting, and low mood, and improve confidence and life skills, for example, preparation for exams, attending interviews or public speaking. Mindfulness gives you tools to use regularly to reduce stress and anxiety.

Many allergies, such as eczema, asthma or hay fever, skin conditions or chronic conditions require changes to be made in lifestyle and diet. This can seem challenging. Digestive system conditions like irritable bowel or indigestion can require new eating habits and change of diet. Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness practice can provide the tools to make these changes achievable.

What is NLP?

The full title is Neuro Linguistic Programming. This combines techniques that work with the brain’s way of thinking and learning, confidence levels, coping strategies, and the way in which we interact socially.

As Hippocrates, the father of western medicine said, people “ought to know that from nothing else but the brain come joys, delights, laughter and jests, and sorrows, griefs, despondency and lamentations.”

‘Neuro’ refers to the brain and its functions and the senses (visual, auditory, touch, smell and taste) that inform our perceptions and ideas and understanding of ourselves. ‘Linguistic’ looks at the language we use to communicate, both verbal and non-verbal, and finally, ‘programming’ examines the way in which we put all this information together and incorporate it into our beliefs and day-to-day decision making.
